ABOUT

I have been taking photos for as long as I remember and I am rarely happier then when I am walking around a city with my headphones on and my camera at the ready. It was in high school that I decided to take a photography class and got my first real camera. It was a Pentax K1000, which I still own and adore. I fell in love with capturing moments and thought the dark room was one of the best places in the world. Thankfully I had an amazing photography teacher that encouraged me to pursue the subject in college at Ball State University.
It just so happened that my love of improv comedy was in constant competition for my time and attention. I was a part of the campus improv troupe and didn't spend as much time with my camera as I should have. After college I took a few years to pursue a Master's Degree and other interests full-time, but was still always capturing images for myself. When I moved from Boston to Chicago in 2007 I bought my first Nikon digital SLR and it's been a renewed love affair with photography ever since.
It was in Chicago that I was finally able to combine my love of photography with improv and was fortunate to be the resident photographer for the iO Theatre. I spent 2.5 years laughing and documenting the shows and life around the theatre that would have otherwise been lost. It was a life-changing experience. I also regularly photographed for the Chicago Improv Festival, Annoyance Theatre and Second City. I learned as much in those two years as I did from my degree and during this time my work was consistently used in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, the Chicago Reader and in TimeOut Chicago magazine.
I left Chicago in 2009 to head West and these days I call San Francisco home. It’s an incredible city with wonderfully colorful people and loads to photograph. I’m the resident photographer for Vesuvio Café in North Beach and I’ve been lucky to already have works published in the SF Chronicle and on display at one of the top art hotels in the nation. I am also fortunate to travel for my full-time job, so I get to take my camera with me on all of my adventures around the US and abroad. I hope that my photographs encourage others to slow down and appreciate the world around them more.
Thanks for stopping by and please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have any questions, comments, want to get my email newsletter, or just want to know more.
